Dylan Summers made history at the 2026 King of the Hammers, becoming the youngest overall winner in Yokohama Every Man Challenge history. Competing in the 4800 Legends class, Summers emerged victorious after 155.5 miles of punishing desert terrain and technical rock crawling in Johnson Valley, California, securing a landmark achievement in one of off-road racing’s most demanding competitions.
Nearly 120 vehicles entered the two-lap race across the 4800 Legends, 4600 Stock, and 4500 Modified classes. Competitors faced a fast, dust-filled opening lap before tackling the notorious rock trails that have made King of the Hammers famous. Mechanical failures, limited visibility, and difficult obstacles created constant challenges, with even the most experienced drivers struggling to maintain their positions.
Three-time King of the Hammers champion Randy Slawson established an early lead, but a rollover near Sledgehammer dramatically changed the race. Summers capitalized on the opportunity, moving into first place and maintaining a controlled pace through the remaining rock sections. His ability to navigate difficult obstacles, including Jack Hammer, without winching proved decisive as other competitors lost valuable time.
Summers ultimately claimed both the overall victory and the 4800 Legends class win, completing the course in 5 hours, 49 minutes, and 28 seconds. Amber Slawson finished second overall, while Derek Summers secured third, completing a memorable podium that included two members of the Summers family. The result marked a significant milestone for the young driver and highlighted the next generation of talent emerging in Ultra4 competition.
