The 2026 Maxxis Area BFE Beatdown brought Ultra4 USA competition to Moab, Utah, as part of the 60th annual Easter Jeep Safari. Marking the opening round of the Ultra4 USA West Coast Series following King of the Hammers, the event attracted 101 entries for two days of racing across some of the region’s most challenging off-road terrain.
Known for its tight, technical course and limited passing opportunities, Area BFE tested competitors from the opening qualifying sessions. Conditions changed dramatically throughout the event, with dry, dusty terrain giving way to heavy rain, mud, and even hail. The unpredictable weather transformed the course, making vehicle reliability, strategic driving, and adaptability just as important as outright speed.
Among the weekend’s standout performances was Paul Wolff, who recovered from a qualifying rollover to charge through the 4900 Pro Mod field and claim victory. Wolff followed that performance with another win in the premier 4400 class, navigating an eight-lap race that saw deep water crossings, mechanical failures, and difficult conditions throughout the field. Other notable class winners included Jesse Bennett in 4600 Stock, Bailey Cole in 4800, and Todd Miller in 4500.
Beyond the racing, the event highlighted the broader Ultra4 community, with competitors, teams, and families participating in trail rides and activities throughout Easter Jeep Safari. The weekend reinforced Moab’s reputation as a major destination for off-road motorsports and demonstrated the depth of competition across Ultra4 USA’s racing classes.
